About
Nomads Golf Club
The Nomads Golf Club was founded in 1957 and is the oldest non-affiliated
club in Southern California. Our members live in San Diego, Orange and
Riverside Counties. We meet every two weeks on Saturdays to enjoy friendly
competitive rounds of tournament style golf. We typically play a total
of twenty-six rounds of golf per year.
Nomad’s membership will usually range from 75 to 100 members
during a year, with Saturday turnouts of 30 to 40 members and guests.
For our purposes, the name "NOMAD" has
two meanings: 1) The Club is nomadic in that it travels from course to
course during the year, and 2) The term "NO - MAD" encourages
our members to conduct themselves in a manner that builds camaraderie
and discourages any
displays
of anger towards fellow golfers, regardless of
the situation. As a Nomads member or guest, the emphasis is on
fair-play, integrity, good sportsmanship, and adherence to the accepted
rules of golf.
Men and women of all playing levels are welcome to join our club. During
our tournaments, women will most often play from the Forward tees and
the men will play from either the Middle or Back tees.
If you wish to join our club please fill out the member
application. We
encourage prospective members to join us every other week as we play rounds
in and around San Diego County. Contact us if you want to join us for one
of these rounds.
Benefits to joining the club are:
- Establish a recognized, sanctioned handicap (SCGA) and have it updated
monthly
- Enjoy 26 rounds of pre-scheduled golf a year at a variety of challenging
courses throughout San Diego and surrounding areas (check out our schedule for more details)
- Receive FORE magazine (from SCGA membership)
- Become eligible for SCGA amateur events (city, county, state & national)
- Meet new friends/golf enthusiasts with similar interests
Our Guest Policy
The Nomads Golf Club enhances its membership by allowing guests to
play with the Club so that they may have an opportunity to experience
Nomads
golf and determine their level of interest in joining the Club.
There are typically two ways in which guests get to play with the Nomads
Golf Club: 1) Members in good standing may invite guests to play at a
regular Nomads event, and 2) interested golfers learning of the Nomads
Golf Club (e.g., via the Club web site) may contact a Club Officer directly,
requesting the opportunity to play in a Nomads event. Please see our
complete Guest Policy in our Bylaws section.
Our Membership Classifications and Fees
A. Annual membership fees shall consist of the SCGA-imposed renewal/enrollment
fees plus additional fees to cover the expenses incurred by the Club
during the coming year. Any changes in the fee structure must be approved
by a two-thirds majority of the Club Officers.
B. For returning members, Nomads Club fees are due and payable on December
1st each year and are considered late and subject to a $10 SCGA imposed
penalty on January 15th. The fee structure for new members allows for
a graduated rate based upon when the Club receives their application.
C. Below are descriptions of the two different types of Nomads memberships
with their respective fee structures:
1. Full Membership
Full members, upon qualification, may play in all
Nomad events, receive monetary awards and get priority playing status
over guests. Full members also get full SCGA benefits (Fore magazine,
handicap, etc.)
